The latest Listener has an article on bottled water in the same vein. Also mentions next summer NZ will release a water with brand name Good in a biodegradable container designed to break down in 80 days. My own personal solution now is to fill a small thermos with filtered tap water.
My god, that article was an eye opener!
Our tap water is pretty good any way. For me, it is the sparkling water that I like, we are currently experimenting with a soda syphon - not quite the same, but nice enough.
